The Unexpected...

I love to be pleasantly shocked when I walk into a room.  I love how overlooked, unexpected objects have a chance to become the show-stopper!
One of my favorite things to do is hit the Midway Mercantile shop looking for that specific what-if piece; this then helps me to create a space that goes against the traditional/specific vignette scheme.
Below are beautiful rooms full of life, comfort, style and organic simplicity:

Eclectic Fun...

Whenever I'm in need of some eclectic inspiration, the first place I think of is Anthropologie!  Not only do they have funky clothes - they also have the perfect team of decorators that pull anything and everything to create that perfect work of art.   Below are some of their images that get you thinking outside of the box:

Thanks Anthropolie for sharing such eclectic fun!

Brambles and Blossoms!

I just came across the most charming store in the whole state of Utah!!
It's called Brambles and Blossoms!  The store owner is Lisa Martineau and she is one of the most talented pickers/designers I have seen!  Everything she puts together is perfection, from antiques to beautiful flower arrangements - lets just say the store leaves you wanting more!
These images don't do the store justice, but if you're in town be sure to stop by (949 South State, Provo Ut)

Look at these darling light fixtures!
Rick is the creator of these works of art using pulley wheels for the base and old salvages pieces from around the world.  I can't can't tell you how amazing they are in person.
Lisa you're amazing, thank you for bringing some culture into Provo!

Juxtaposing Rough And Refined

I know I have blogged about Darryl Carter before, but I can't help but go off on some of my favorite designers!  Darryl gets it; his design is based on minimalism - stripping away all unnecessary embellishment (loud colors, busy patterns) to focus attention on carefully curated pieces.
How sad to have beautiful antiques throughout your home, but you can't see them because there is too much going on.
This is a huge reason why I love the monochromatic!
Darryl says, "White rooms make old things seem more current."  He goes on to say, "White rooms are more complex than they appear because there are no distractions.  Every choice becomes critical."
I love Darryl's 19th-century Virginia home.  He perfectly balances the rough and refined, creating the perfect juxtaposition of texture and atmosphere!

I love how Rosy Strazzeri-Fridman puts it: "It's not that I have an aversion to color - it's just that I have more of an affinity for the monochromatic.  For me, people are color, flowers are color, food is color... and all of this is my canvas."
... amen girl!

Chateau Domingue

The owner of Chateau Domingue remodeled her home using antique elements from her store.
Here are some images of her beautiful home which now is the perfect chateau:

... what a beautiful gate entry!

The reclaimed rock entry way with those lanterns are so gorgeous!!

It's so amazing how she has made her kitchen look centuries old!

Her antique furniture is gorgeous!

I can't get enough of these vintage fireplaces!

No details were missed!  This home seriously seems centuries old!

The furniture is so dreamy!

One of my favorite lanterns!

It takes a true artisan to turn a modern home into such a gem!
Be sure to check out her website!
