The Perfect Mountain Retreat!

I was checking out some of my favorite blogs today and came across a gorgeous post on Zhush!
Many of you have probably seen this beautiful cabin on this fabulous blog, but I had to post these beautiful images!
I have never been into cabins or mountain homes for some reason, maybe because I'm not into winter sports or the cold.  You would think I would be more open minded due to the fact I live in Utah.
All the cabins and homes in Utah are a little stagnant, that is why I'm a little turned off.
Thanks to the mother and daughter team of m. elle, we are all able to see a whole new twist on the perfect mountain retreat!!

... genius!!

Lake house Favorites!

I just got back from one of the best vacations!
Once a year my whole family takes a trip to Flat Head Lake, located in Montana!
I grew up in St. Ignatius, MT and moved to Provo, UT at the age of nine.
My father and his family are from Montana, so we all get the privilege of hanging out on the beautiful Flat Head Lake with the best relatives in the world... seriously!!
We swim, boat, laugh and eat... my favorite things to do in the whole world, especially with people I love!
Every time we go there, my husband and I are always looking for the best piece of property to build a charming lake home.
Searching the internet I came across beautiful rooms that inspire the perfect lake house:

Vintage!

Lately I have been obsessed with the next vintage find!  I love walking into homes where small details jump out at me, and at the same time they have a story.  Small vintage details create unexpected atmospheres with charm and history.
Imagination is definitely the secret to a life less ordinary!
As you look through these images... try to notice objects that will pop out at you in your next hunt...

"A streetlamp-salvaged from a street in Paris-hangs in the hallway of the main house.  Sliding metal panels open onto the dining room and living room.  Picture windows installed in the farm's rear walls look onto the kitchen garden, which provides fresh vegetables for residents and diners at the Char a' Banc!"    -Sebastien Siraudeau

Needing a Little Nantucket Style?

I have always been drawn to the Nantucket style and the old soul this particular island has.  Building codes ensure that new construction blends with the old, making nantucket one of the most charming locations in my opinion.
I have to say... I am caught between two worlds.  I love the country style of Provence equal to that of the old cape cod/nantucket style.  To solve this problem, I mix the two!  These beautiful styles carry an old fashioned charm.  Colors that are slightly off, and pieces of historic furniture that show wear and tear to me are relaxing and timeless.  My favorite colors in a home are weathered pale browns, warm creamy whites and soft greens and blues with a hint of gray here and there... nothing to me is more calming.
I hope you enjoy these beautiful images of Nantucket:

This was an old school house turned into the perfect beach cottage

This would be my ideal Nantucket home... right in the heart of town!

The perfect decor in a charming window on a beautiful September day!

... notice how all the homes blend perfectly

... loving that weathered zinc-top table... I want one!

Look how they painted the old cupboards, and they look perfect!  Everything is so soft and simple!

... my favorite vietri dishes!

crisp... clean... timeless

Are you now a Nantucket fan?
