One thing I have always been obsessed with is reclaimed wood!
My dream would be to build a home with reclaimed wood timbers and flooring throughout, creating an authentic vintage look.
Here are some beautiful pictures of rooms exemplifying a natural, light and relaxed timeless look:

I love the imagination and courage it takes to renovate these beautiful Provencal homes. This particular home contained some beautiful well kept secrets. While renovating they notice that the previous owner who had built the home in 1850 was a man of some means. Wonderfully distressed beams, grand fireplaces and intricate stone work was revealed.

These soft and simple rooms have so much character with their beautiful terra cotta flooring and exposed stone walls. Notice the beautiful light fixtures that pop next to the vintage elements!

This home is called Aramis, it was built as a hunting-lodge in Perigord, south-west France. I love this home so much that I designed my own home after it, staining my doors soft gray/blues with diamond pediments.

I love how the designers respected the original material and finishes of these rooms. They created a charming look combining both past and present... my favorite look!
Have a wonderful weekend!
Gorgeous! What lovely visuals to start the weekend with!
ReplyDeleteOh my gosh! I will have to come back later and devour this post. These images are wonderful. I love them all. However I do love it when I see something so wonderful and can think of just one thing that would make it better and I would definitely add fat drippy beeswax candles to the pair of lamps made from the old balustrades. Stone, reclaimed wood and beams, iron...does it get any better?
ReplyDeleteI can't agree with you more on those woods and colors. I too love them!!
ReplyDeleteI want my husband to build me a table using reclaimed wood.
Talk about DREAM HOME.
Desiree-I stumbled upon your blog from a post on Ashlee Raubach's blog (this is Brielle's mom) and I LOVE your blog! You have beautiful taste, I love it! I lived in Aix en Provence--it is my favorite place in the world. Thanks for your 'eye candy'!

Desiree, I love these photos and this style. I'm happy to have found your blog and can't wait to see more. Thanks for sharing!
ReplyDeleteLovely place! Your blog is such a treasure trove.
ReplyDeleteBTW, from looking at the sources you listed -- is there really a magazine called "Cote Quest", or is it that your computer's spell checker didn't like "Côte Ouest"?
