Cozy...

Well it's that time of year again where all I want to do is sit in front of the fire with hot cocoa.
I love these soothing, cozy rooms - they encourage one to have a clear mind while de-cluttering the senses.

I love these color combinations: nautical whites, chalk, ice blue, silver birch, stainless steel, chrome, gunmetal, gustavian gray, black truffle, gray ash and pewter colors.  They compliment the monochromatic perfectly.

"Monochromatic is the easiest scheme to achieve as it is based on one color, which is adjusted by adding white to lighten or black to darken, producing a tint or shade respectively."
-David Oliver, The Paint Library

I hope you're all having a wonderful week!

  2. I've been hanging out in front of our wood stove and I'm not leaving it until this snow melts but it isn't as cozy as these rooms. Funny you should mention truffle black I've been trying to get that color but it's hard to reproduce.

The second one is my fave,
with a lovely dog like that to accompany me on cold nights would be cool.

  4. cozy has been much tougher to achieve in this house than in others we have owned. high ceilings and spaciousness can definitely work against you, yes? i am hoping to create more cozy spaces as i undertake the restyling of the upstairs and the reno of the downstairs. wish it could be done in a day, but it's about patience.

  5. Beautiful images. I never get sick of this look. A little raw, but feminine. It always looks creative to me.

  6. Where did you happen to pick up those blue stripped cushions? I'd love to do something similar in our sun room on the lake :)
