Charm and Whimsy...

I love charm and whimsy... it adds that perfect touch of unexpected!
Combining different collectibles creates interest or that what if  look.
I believe one's home should bring them comfort - surrounding themselves with heirloom pieces they love.

I don't feel that design should be like following a cook book, it's not science.   We need to design more from our hearts... don't you think?

I love this quote:
"Bring your favorite ingredients into your home and create your own recipe for living well!"

  1. oooooh i love the recipe analogy. that is right up my alley. and isn't it funny how the very same ingredients if combined improperly can be a disaster!?! or if mixed well, a showstopper!

good food for thought here (pun intended), sweetstuff.

  2. I could not agree more, trendy is fun but surrounding yourself in what you love will last forever

  3. I LOVE what you have said here. The visual is sometimes very difficult to communicate into words. Your words here, using "comfort," "heirloom" and 'recipe' illustrate the essence, the feeling of place. This post is a keeper!

  6. That is a terrific chair. I totally agree. No cookbook design. It should be what feels and comes natural to you. I think it is fine to look for inspiration or maybe a bit of how-to if you are looking for information on collecting or the history of a piece but beyond that, it is carte blanche.

  9. These rooms are charming, so inviting. I totally agree that you should design from the heart. I like homes that tell you about the person living there and encourage you to pull up a chair and drink tea!!. These pictures invite you in, the colours are calming and the rustic additions/tones add warmth. Adding an item of furniture with a soft hue or distressed look can add character to a room :O)
