Darryl Carter is another favorite designer of mine, his taste is perfection is every way. Darryl seamlessly mixes modern with classical elements, creating individual comfort and timeless elegance.

I love how he has used this gateleg library table... it can be used as a reading table or for dining.

Darryl is able to find pieces that serve as multiple functional designs.

Nothing I love more than vintage Louis... and that former worktable serving as a decorative sideboard is perfection!!!

I can't get enough of these gateleg tables, they add the perfect touch of vintage.

The landscape painting and that lamp coupled with white walls is so dreamy. You can never go wrong with white, it serves as the perfect envelope.

... once again the white walls and painted white floors are the perfect backdrop for this room.
White makes everything POP!

I love how Darryl left the old leather chair in its worn look.

Loving the period mantel in a black stain, It creates the perfect focal point.

So simple, but so interesting... something as simple as two sconces and one great book can create so much interest. I love the small details, it's what makes a room.

Darryl always uses the perfect aesthetics!

Darryl created shelves that were fashioned after an Italian Etagere.

One of my favorite kitchens of all time! The stacked wood adds so much texture to this room.

These light fixtures are incredible!! They are former factory lights, suspended from metal utility pipes. WOW!!

Can this guy think out of the box or what? That mirror suspended between the two windows, the demilune console converted into a vanity, and that light fixture... eye candy!!!
Darryl you're my style guru!
The book The New Traditional is a for sure favorite!
Have a wonderful week!
I love how clean and simple, yet warm, elegant and rustic this is...beautiful!
ReplyDeleteI'm with you on the gateleg tables~ they are precious. I almost went with one in our family room but decided it wouldn't really suit our entertaining needs like a long rectangular table would. Those old factory light are incredible too.
ReplyDeleteHappy weekend to you Desiree!
Love it all! Great post- I will look for that book

Timeless, beautiful. All of it.
ReplyDeleteOkay, this guy I really like!! Great Mantel!
ReplyDeleteThanks for such a gorgeous post! I am near-obsessed with these white/taupe/linen/burlap/brown color schemes right now; they are so restful and classic. I just adore that daybed...I dream of having a piece like that someday! And that old table topped with marble is so divine. I have an old drafting table that I made my parents carry with them from house to house for years and now it functions as an island in my kitchen; the top wood veneer is split and I've been toying with the idea of getting a custom butcher block top for it, but now I think I want to top it with gorgeous stone like that!
ReplyDeleteGreat post! Darryl Carter is one of my favorites!

huge fan of darryl.
ReplyDeleteCompletely agree with you on those dining room light fixtures! A little glamour mixed with industrial charm is perfection.
ReplyDeleteI can seen neither you or Mr. Carter are seasoned interior designers. His work is incredibly unfunctional. He would make a good set designer or window dresser. It makes for pretty pictures but the work is ridiculous. You couldn't live in these rooms.
ReplyDeleteYes,I agree. It is set design. If you take those prop books, grapes and cheese off the table, the room looks empty and ridiculous. And, not to mention, the table is dining height, not cocktail, so it is too high for where it is placed, not to mention it would get burned-up by the fireplace. Darryl is a stylist, not an interior designer. You can tell he had no training in interiors. I pity people who hire him based on pretty pictures and then after spending zillions of dollars, they have a stage to live on rather than a home to live in.
DeleteA Washington DC designer I love is Brenton Bacari. His firm is Bacari Design, Inc. One of the partners in my law firm tapped his talents for their home. The work is awesome! It is very classic, timeless and comfortable. You cannot tell whether it is traditional or modern! He is obviously very well-trained and talented.
